Plugin Description

Wowpilot Reviews connects your WordPress site to your business page on Wowpilot and shows your rating and reviews wherever you want them — no code.

Show your reviews

  • 19 widgets: star strip, rating card, latest review, carousel, grid, testimonial wall, list, quote slider, ticker, rating breakdown, photo reviews, featured review, reviews with replies, trust seal, and floating badge, pop-ups, sticky bar and side tab. All 19 are included on every Wowpilot plan, the free one too.
  • A block for the block editor, a shortcode for everything else, and a classic widget for sidebars and footers.
  • Automatic placement: a widget under every post, or a floating badge on every page, switched on with one tick.
  • Widgets draw in their own sandbox (Shadow DOM), so your theme’s styles can’t break them and they can’t break your theme.

WooCommerce

  • Your rating next to the price or the Add to cart button.
  • A “Customer reviews” tab showing reviews from customers who bought that product (or your shop reviews while it has none).
  • Stars under products on shop pages — only for products with reviews of their own; your shop rating is never passed off as a product rating.
  • A trust widget on the cart and checkout.
  • Automatic review invitations a set number of days after an order is completed, naming the products bought, with an optional opt-in checkbox at checkout (classic and block checkout). Orders refunded or cancelled in the meantime are skipped. Compatible with High-Performance Order Storage.

Collect reviews

  • “Rate us” stars for posts and pages. A reader who clicks a star goes to Wowpilot with that star selected and writes the review there — where it is moderated, so your reviews stay credible.
  • Send invitations by hand from WordPress and follow what happened to each one.

Manage your reviews in WordPress

  • An overview: rating, star breakdown, reviews in the last 30 days and the latest reviews.
  • A reviews inbox with a “Needs a reply” filter, where you (and your Editors) can post public replies.

Fast and private

  • Your site fetches the widget data from Wowpilot and caches it for 15 minutes. Visitors’ browsers never contact Wowpilot to load a widget, and the plugin sends nothing about your visitors.
  • No “Powered by” line unless you turn it on.

External services

This plugin connects to Wowpilot (https://wowpilot.com), the review platform whose reviews it displays. It cannot work without it.

  • Connecting (when you click “Connect”): your browser is sent to https://wowpilot.com/connect/wordpress with your site’s address, its name and a one-time security code, so you can approve the site. Your site then exchanges the returned one-time code for an API key at https://wowpilot.com/api/v1/connect/token.
  • Showing reviews (when a page with a widget is viewed and the 15-minute cache has expired, and when you open the plugin’s admin pages): your site requests your business’s rating, reviews and the chosen widget options from https://wowpilot.com/api/v1/me and https://wowpilot.com/api/v1/widget, sending its API key. No data about your visitors is sent.
  • Images: reviewers’ profile pictures, review photos and your logo are loaded by visitors’ browsers from Wowpilot or from the service that hosts them (for example, Google for imported listings).
  • Disconnecting: your site tells https://wowpilot.com/api/v1/disconnect to revoke its key.
  • Reviews inbox and replies (when you open the Reviews page or post a reply): your site reads your reviews from https://wowpilot.com/api/v1/reviews and sends your reply text to https://wowpilot.com/api/v1/reviews/{id}/reply.
  • Invitations (only when you send them, or switch on automatic invitations for WooCommerce): the customer’s email address, name, order number and the names of the products in the order are sent to https://wowpilot.com/api/v1/invitations, and Wowpilot emails the customer an invitation to review. Past invitations are read from the same address to list them. With automatic invitations you can require customers to opt in at checkout; suggested privacy policy text is added under Settings Privacy.
  • Product ratings (WooCommerce, when a product or shop page is viewed and the cache has expired): the ids of the products on the page are sent to https://wowpilot.com/api/v1/products to fetch their ratings.
  • “Rate us” stars link to your review form on Wowpilot; nothing is sent until a reader clicks.
