Plugin Description
Disco Free is a widget that recommends your podcast episodes to your blog post readers. It is ideal for anyone who is trying to grow their podcast audience.
The plugin recommends clips of episodes to give readers a good preview of the episode, and sends readers to https://play.headliner.app for continued listening.
The plugin adds javascript to your posts and that javascript calls Headliner’s servers (a 3rd party site) for podcast recommendations from your own podcast. The plugin requires configuration and setup on Headliner at https://dashboard.headliner.app. There you submit your website and podcast’s RSS feed.
Why did we build this? Disco Enterprise is already helping large publishers recommend their podcasts, we wanted to bring it to podcasters of every size.
How is this different from a manual embed? Disco does a lot more than what an manual embed does, here are some of the differences:
- Automatic – no more manual work, once you set it up, you don’t have to manually embed anything anymore! Once running, podcast episodes will be automatically recommended at the end of each blog post
- Constantly updating – as you release new episodes, we recommend them automatically. No need to go back and fix anything, and we prioritize fresher content.
- Multiple episodes with visual support – giving readers options converts better, and adding visuals if you have episode art, makes the unit cover better than embed players
- Metrics – speaking of conversion, in our dashboard, you get up to date metrics on all the engagement on a per URL level. No embed on the market gives this level of granularity.
- Clips – we try to find clips that best engage the reader and convert. Starting at time 0:00 for a casual site visitor isn’t ideal, and we aim to find the clip that best works with the blog post and the reader to convert into continued listening.
- Recommendation technology – Every viewer of the page sees the same episode or clip with an embed; they don’t dynamically change based on the audience, the content, or the podcast’s feed, Disco Free does!
In testing against manual embeds, we outperformed by 4X. All metrics can be reviewed at our dashboard located at https://dashboard.headliner.app.
To get started, please visit the dashboard to submit your podcast feed and site. Once that is setup (usually ~1 hour), we will give you a widgetID code, that you will need to configure the plugin. Step by step directions are posted in the dashboard.
