Plugin Description

Creates a Preview and Publish/Update Button in post creation/post edit, that scrolls down the screen as you scroll. No more scrolling back to the top of the editor to hit preview!

The plugin uses minimal code and very little CSS. Buttons and the tab use default WordPress admin CSS classes.

Other Features

As I originally built this for myself, there are a couple of other features.

  1. Word Count (at last save): this is an approximate word count and appears to differ from that provided in Classic Editor’s footer. I don’t know why yet. I haven’t figured out how to grab the content from the text input (I used code) mode anyway, so my word count is based on the saved post, less shortcodes and after removing HTML tags.
  2. “Hide For Now”: You’ll spot a small [x] on the tab. This hides the tab until you next save or publish the post. I added this just in case my tab is hiding a metabox you really need.
  3. The “Publish” and “Update” buttons on my tab bring a confirmation box up before doing the relevant action. This helps avoid accidental publishing. I will make this optional in a future update.

In-development: The [s] on the tab will eventually save the post with AJAX, or at least create a post revision. I’ve not successfully managed it yet, so will likely comment this out on the first public release.

Known Issues

In order these will be addressed:
* Word Count differences as already stated.
* The [s] does not work as intended (and is, therefore, hidden).
