PMS Performance Lite Wordpress Plugin - Rating, Reviews, Demo & Download
Plugin Description
Help your WordPress site load faster with local caching, native lazy loading and basic cleanup. Includes private-session protections and a media review tool. No paid licence required.
Configuration and limits
Lite also makes small local stylesheets eligible for WordPress’s native inlining: up to 16 KB per file and 32 KB per page, subject to the WordPress size limit. The smallest eligible files are considered first without changing cascade order. WordPress resolves relative asset URLs. Imports, non-global media conditions, alternate styles, RTL variants and integrity-protected delivery stay external. This basic option is enabled with basic optimization and can be disabled; clear caches after changing it. Large or unsupported styles remain unchanged. Pro’s CSS processing engine is not included.
Optional native preloads can prepare up to two existing, same-origin WOFF2 fonts used above the fold. Enter their full URLs only after measuring a font-loading delay; leave the settings empty otherwise. This does not download, convert or rewrite fonts. Even consumed font preloads can slow the main image: compare FCP and LCP, not only the overall score. Files must resolve to local public assets within a shared 512 KB budget. Dynamic query parameters, credentials and external origins are rejected. Lower fetch priority is requested where WordPress supports it.
Lite works without a PMS account or paid licence and does not expire. WordPress.org and store Lite have the same local optimization engine; update delivery and attribution policy differ. There is no second, more powerful free edition.
WordPress 6.9 or later is required. Page-cache capture uses WordPress’s template enhancement lifecycle; PMS does not open an independent response buffer. HFE compatibility loads its official stylesheet through WordPress’s enqueue API, not by rewriting the completed HTML. Sites that opt out of template buffering continue to render normally but do not populate this page cache.
When page caching is explicitly enabled, PMS copies the bundled modules/cache/advanced-cache.php file unchanged to WordPress’s advanced-cache.php drop-in location. Public cache files and non-executable settings.json are stored under WP_CONTENT_DIR/cache/pms-performance-lite; this is the page-cache exception to uploads storage. The JSON contains public cache rules only, not licence keys, visitor data or credentials. Settings remain in the WordPress database. Other cache owners are preserved unless an administrator explicitly approves takeover with a recoverable database backup. Removal restores only those original, hash-verified bytes; it does not generate a replacement program. The optional WP_CACHE action changes only its marked block in the installation’s wp-config.php; symlinks and parent-directory configurations are not edited. Browser-cache rules change only their marked .htaccess block. Neither action requires editing plugin files.
If another output provider exposes wordpress_prepare_output, storage waits for that provider’s final HTML so its resources are not lost in a cache hit. PMS does not start or close that provider’s buffer.
Page caching and browser-cache rules are off on a fresh installation. Activation does not silently enable WP_CACHE or replace another plugin’s cache drop-in. Browser rules are explicitly enabled and removable on compatible Apache/LiteSpeed servers; other servers need host configuration. Native loading retains WordPress priority decisions and author attributes, not blanket rewriting of every theme image.
Review unused-media candidates before deleting anything. Deletion requires administrator confirmation and a renewed reference check. Theme-code references can still be missed. Keep backups.
The WordPress.org profile has no mandatory PMS attribution. The store profile from 0.13.8 enables and locks its PMS attribution; the older published store Lite 0.13.6 still has optional attribution. The distribution channel is fixed when the package is built. Pro attribution is optional. Optimization does not replace consent handling, analytics verification or tests of navigation, forms, cart and checkout. No performance score, ranking, AI citation or advertising-cost result is guaranteed. Public HTML is not replaced with benchmark-only or bot-only marketing content.
Separate Pro edition
PMS Performance Pro is a separately distributed commercial package. It adds local WebP/AVIF and theme-image conversion, advanced CSS loading, dependency-aware JavaScript queues and selective delay, optional local font preparation, home-page cache warming and Performance Guard. Guard stores up to 10 settings snapshots, permits manual restore and performs basic HTTP checks; it does not verify visual or JavaScript correctness or automatically roll back changes.
Lite’s settings describe these Pro options and link to the comparison and plans. These are informational previews, not disabled functional settings. Lite contains no implementation of these modules, licence manager or Pro installer. Install the separate Pro ZIP yourself and activate the website licence. Pro replaces Lite in the same folder; do not install both alongside one another.

External services and privacy
Directory Lite has no PMS updater or licence manager. Updates come through WordPress.org. Independently distributed store Lite has a signed PMS update channel; its checks disclose request IP and technical headers to PMS. It does not enable paid modules or require an account.
Lite does not download Google Fonts, convert images remotely, require OpenAI, install tracking or payment tools, or automatically add third-party preconnect/DNS-prefetch hints. Resources supplied by your theme and other plugins remain their responsibility. Clicking a Pro comparison or purchase link navigates to PMScripts.com; it does not install software or send page content.
Separate Pro licensing and updates use product/site/installation identifiers and licence credentials. Optional Pro Google Fonts preparation downloads CSS and font files from Google on the website server; remote browser fallback may remain when preparation is incomplete. Directory Lite does not use those services.
