Plugin Description

Scan it. Pay for it. Take it.

Scan & Pay turns your WooCommerce store into a scan-and-go shop. Customers scan a posted QR code or an item’s barcode with their own phone, pay at your normal WooCommerce checkout, and take the item. No app to install, no cashier needed, and no new payment account.

For stores with staff, the counter turns any phone, tablet or computer into a till: the cashier scans the items, and the customer pays by scanning a QR code on the cashier’s screen.

Scan & Pay never charges a card. Every payment goes through your existing WooCommerce checkout and the payment gateway you already use, so it works with any gateway.

Who it is for

  • Honor-system shops, office pantries and fridges, farm stands, pop-ups and events with nobody at the till
  • Shops with a cashier that want customers to pay on their own phone

Self-serve, with no cashier

  • A full-screen scanner page that opens like an app from the QR code on your store sign
  • Reads EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128 and Code 39 barcodes and QR codes in the phone’s browser: the browser’s own reader on Android, a bundled reader on iPhone
  • A flash, a vibration and a beep for every scan, a running item list with quantities, and “Type a code” when the camera can’t be used
  • Barcodes are matched to the product’s GTIN, UPC, EAN or ISBN field, then its SKU. A UPC is found whether it was stored as 12, 13 or 14 digits
  • Out-of-stock, private, draft and unpriced products are never added
  • Scan & Go checkout for carts started from a scan: no shipping, guest checkout, and only name, email, country and ZIP code. Each option can be turned off
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay buttons right under the scanned items, when your payment plugin provides them (accept.blue Payment Gateway v2 does; other payment plugins can add support through a filter)
  • Choose which payment methods scan carts are offered
  • A live “Paid” receipt with the order number and a running clock, so a screenshot of someone else’s receipt can be told apart. It only shows once the money is in

Counter, with a cashier

  • Scan with a USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner, or the device’s camera. Fast scans are queued, so none are lost
  • Charge creates the order and shows its total and a QR code. The customer pays on WooCommerce’s own pay page, with no login
  • The screen turns to “Paid” by itself. Cash or card terminal is one tap
  • A Cashier user role that can use the counter and nothing else: no orders, customers, products or settings
  • A location per counter, full-screen mode, and Enter for the next customer

Printable QR codes

  • A store sign for the whole store and one per location (“Front shelf”, “Fridge”), with your logo, headline, steps and colours
  • Shelf labels with each product’s name, price and QR code, for items with no barcode: every product, chosen categories, or hand-picked products and variations
  • Letter or A4 sheets to cut out, or Avery 5163 / 8163 and L7163 stickers
  • Download any QR code as SVG for your own designs

Orders

  • A Scan location column and filter in the Orders list
  • Each order records how it was started (store QR code, product QR code, barcode or counter), the location, and the barcode scanned for each item

Built to fit your store

  • Your normal online store is unchanged: only carts started from a scan get the Scan & Go checkout, and a cart holding a subscription never does
  • Works with the Classic and the Block checkout, and with High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS)
  • Translation ready, with a .pot file included
  • No external services: the barcode and QR code libraries ship inside the plugin
  • Coded to the WordPress Coding Standards

Requirements

  • WordPress 6.2 or later
  • WooCommerce 9.2 or later
  • PHP 7.4 or later
  • HTTPS: phone browsers only allow the camera on secure pages

Documentation and support

A step-by-step user guide, in HTML and Word, is included in the download. For help, use the Support tab on this page.
