Plugin Description
Google for WooCommerce fails quietly. Setup loops back to the start, products stop reaching Merchant Center, or “There was an error getting the status of your Google Ads account” appears with no explanation.
The answer is usually already on your site, spread across five places: plugin settings, product data, the background job queue, the WooCommerce logs and the issues Merchant Center reported. This plugin reads all of them and puts the answer on one screen, under Tools > Google Sync Doctor.
What it checks
- Store and server: Google for WooCommerce installed and running (and why not, if it will not activate), WooCommerce version, “Coming soon” mode, search engine visibility, HTTPS, outgoing requests blocked in wp-config.php.
- Accounts and connection: WordPress.com connected and owned by a user, the one-hour sync pause after WordPress.com rejects the connection, Google account connected, the exact setup step that failed and Google’s reason, store address changed since setup, revoked access, shipping settings that failed to sync.
- Background sync jobs: jobs waiting for hours, failed jobs and why, jobs killed mid-run, and whether the whole site’s queue has stopped.
- Products: rejected products grouped by problem, so one fix covers every product it applies to, with a likely fix for common problems. Connection failures are counted separately so they are not mistaken for broken products. Merchant Center’s own issue list, grouped.
- Recent errors: what Google for WooCommerce logged in the last 7 days, grouped, with a plain-language fix for known errors like “cURL error 60” or “cURL error 56”. Errors are also captured when WooCommerce logging is turned off.
- Connection tests (on demand): whether the server can reach Google’s service and WordPress.com right now, whether the REST API is open, and whether WordPress.com still accepts the site’s connection.

What it does not do
It only reads. It never changes Google for WooCommerce’s settings or data, and it contacts no outside service unless an administrator presses “Run connection tests” (see External services below).

External services
This plugin contacts outside services only when an administrator presses the “Run connection tests” button on its screen. Nothing is sent on page load, on a schedule, or from the front end of the site.
WooCommerce.com API (api.woocommerce.com), run by Automattic. Google for WooCommerce sends its requests to Google through this service, so the test checks that the server can reach it. One HTTPS request is made to the address’s front page. It sends only what every web request carries: the server’s IP address and WordPress’s standard user agent, which includes your site’s address. No store, product or customer data is sent.

WordPress.com (public-api.wordpress.com), run by Automattic. Google for WooCommerce’s connection to Google depends on the site’s WordPress.com (Jetpack) connection.
* Reachability: one HTTPS request to the address’s front page, sending the server’s IP address and WordPress’s standard user agent, which includes your site’s address.
* Connection check: only if the site is already connected to WordPress.com, the plugin asks the Jetpack connection library already installed with Google for WooCommerce to confirm that WordPress.com still accepts the site’s connection. That request is signed with the site’s existing WordPress.com connection token. No store, product or customer data is sent.
