Notifications and integrations
Email notifications use the WordPress mail system and can work with the site’s configured SMTP/mail provider.
SMS notifications are optional and require the site owner to provide their own provider account and credentials. Supported providers include MSG91, Twilio, and Textlocal.
WhatsApp notifications are optional and use the official WhatsApp Business Platform/Meta API. The site owner must provide their own Meta Business/WhatsApp credentials and approved message templates.
Google Calendar integration is optional and uses Google OAuth 2.0 and the Google Calendar API. The site owner must create and authorize their own Google Cloud OAuth application.
External services are contacted only when the corresponding integration is enabled and configured.
External services
Appovent can connect to the third-party services listed below. They are optional and only contacted when the site owner enables and configures the matching integration. The core appointment booking features work without any of them. The API keys, tokens and accounts used for each service belong to the site owner.
Google Calendar and Google OAuth
Used to create, update, reschedule and cancel a Google Calendar event for each appointment. Appovent contacts accounts.google.com (authorization), oauth2.googleapis.com (token exchange, refresh and revoke) and www.googleapis.com (Calendar API and account email lookup).
Data sent: the OAuth client ID/secret and authorization code or tokens; when an appointment is created, updated, rescheduled or cancelled, the event title, date, time, service, staff member, customer name, phone and email, and the appointment ID. The customer email is added as an event attendee. The “Test connection” button reads the selected calendar.
