Plugin Description

On classic single-product templates, BloomStack Gallery Spotlight for WooCommerce owns and replaces the WooCommerce gallery for every non-excluded product type. Add Vimeo or direct MP4/M4V, WebM, Ogg/Ogv, and MOV videos alongside product images with full control over playback, layout, and navigation. WooCommerce Product Gallery blocks remain native and unsupported; Gallery Spotlight does not replace block galleries. Quick-view modals keep the native WooCommerce gallery.

Themes can override the gallery markup by copying templates/frontend/gallery.php to yourtheme/gallery-spotlight/gallery.php. The gallery_spotlight_locate_template filter can change the path.

Variation images switch as isolated collections. When a resolved variation has its own media, parent media, including parent video, intentionally disappears; resetting the selection or selecting a variation with an empty parent fallback restores the exact parent collection. Enabled WooCommerce native videos are read-only and included in the parent Gallery Spotlight collection. Gallery Spotlight does not write WooCommerce core media metadata.

Key Features:

  • Video Support — Add Vimeo or direct MP4/M4V, WebM, Ogg/Ogv, and MOV videos to any product.
  • Flexible Layouts — Choose left, right, or bottom thumbnail positions.
  • Lightbox — Full-screen image and video lightbox with keyboard navigation via GLightbox.
  • Navigation Controls — Configurable prev/next arrows with position (top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right) and shape (round, square) options.
  • Pagination Dots — Optional pager beneath the gallery.
  • Spacing Control — User-configurable gallery gap and pagination gap (0-60px).
  • Video Playback Settings — Per-product controls for autoplay, loop, mute, and show/hide controls.
  • WooCommerce Variation Support — Native variation images replace the visible classic gallery as an isolated ordered collection, with safe parent restoration on reset or empty fallback.
  • WooCommerce Native Video Delivery — Enabled native videos are read without modifying core metadata and included in the parent Gallery Spotlight collection.
  • Performance Optimised — Eager loading and <link rel="preload"> for the LCP image, browser-native lazy loading plus responsive srcset/sizes for later slides, and Vimeo SDK loading only on single-product pages that have a Vimeo video. Nothing loads on shop or category pages.
  • Modern UI — Smooth fade transitions on lazy-loaded images, thumbnail click tolerance for reliable interaction.

Third-Party Services

This plugin uses the Vimeo video platform to embed and play Vimeo-hosted videos within product galleries.

  • The Vimeo Player SDK (https://player.vimeo.com/api/player.js) is loaded only on single-product pages whose product has a Vimeo video. Loading the SDK or a Vimeo iframe connects the visitor’s browser to Vimeo, which receives normal request data such as IP address and user agent.
  • After a Vimeo product URL is saved without a custom poster, an asynchronous WordPress cron job sends that saved URL to Vimeo’s oEmbed API to request its thumbnail. Vimeo receives the URL and normal server request data. Successful responses are cached locally for 24 hours and failed requests back off before retrying; frontend rendering never initiates this oEmbed request.
  • Direct-video files load from the URL configured by the site administrator. If that URL uses a third-party host, the visitor’s browser connects to that host under its terms and privacy policy.

By using the Vimeo video features of this plugin you agree to Vimeo’s terms:
