Plugin Description
By default WordPress sends email straight from the web server. Those emails are not authenticated,
so contact form messages often land in spam, get rejected by Gmail, or silently disappear.
SOHO SMTP makes every email from your site — contact forms, comment notices, new users, password
resets, shop orders — leave through an authenticated connection you choose. Emails sent by other
plugins take the same route automatically.
Choose how emails are sent
- SMTP server — pick your mail service and the server, port and encryption are filled in:
Gmail, Outlook.com, Naver, Daum, Yahoo! JAPAN Mail, XServer, Sakura Internet, Synology NAS, or any other SMTP server.
The services of the admin’s own country are listed first. - Email API service — SendGrid, Mailgun, Amazon SES, Postmark, Brevo, SMTP2GO. Only HTTPS is needed,
so this works even when your host blocks mail ports. - Google account / Microsoft account — send through Gmail or Microsoft 365 / Outlook.com with OAuth,
using your own app. Step-by-step instructions are on the screen, including the steps that usually trip people up
(publishing the Google app so the connection does not expire every 7 days).
Never lose an email
- Backup server — when the main connection fails, the same email is sent right away through a second SMTP server.
- Automatic retries — failed emails are tried again after 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 2 hours and 6 hours.
Attachments are kept safely until the email is delivered. - Background sending (optional) — forms respond instantly instead of waiting for the mail server.
- Failure alerts — an email to you when something cannot be delivered (sent through the backup server when
the main connection is the problem; at most one per hour). - Weekly report — delivered, failed and the most common reasons.
- Site Health — problems show up in Tools > Site Health.
Errors explained in plain language
- Test email — send a real email with the current settings, even before turning SOHO SMTP on.
- When it fails you get the cause and what to do — for example “Signing in failed: Gmail needs an app password” —
instead of a raw error code. The conversation with the server is shown with passwords and message content removed.
Sending log
- When, to whom, which subject, through which route, and the result — with the full server conversation for failures.
- Message bodies and attachments are never stored. Entries are deleted after 7, 30 or 90 days.
Domain authentication check
When the test succeeds but a bounce arrives later, the cause is almost always the sender domain.
One click checks:
- SPF — is there a record, does it include your mail server or service (following include, a, mx and redirect),
are there duplicate records or a dangerous “+all” - DKIM — is a public key published (common selectors are tried automatically; you can enter yours)
- DMARC — is there a policy
- Sending a @gmail.com (or other mail service) address through another server — a combination that is always rejected
When something is missing, SOHO SMTP writes the DNS value for you, ready to copy.
Safe and simple
- Passwords, API keys and account tokens are stored encrypted. The key is derived from your site’s security keys in
wp-config.php, not stored in the database, so a database copy alone cannot reveal them. Nothing to set up. - Fixed sender — stops other plugins from putting a visitor’s address as the sender (which receivers reject),
while keeping their reply-to address. - Japanese encoding (optional) — plain-text emails in ISO-2022-JP for older Japanese mobile phones.
- Settings left by another mail plugin can be imported in one click.
- Warns when another plugin is also changing how email is sent.
- Ready for translation. The interface is written in English; Korean and Japanese translations are provided through translate.wordpress.org.

SOHO SMTP는 워드프레스에서 나가는 모든 이메일(문의 폼, 댓글 알림, 신규 가입, 비밀번호 재설정, 쇼핑몰 주문 메일)을 직접 고른 인증된 연결로 보내 줍니다. 다른 플러그인이 보내는 메일도 자동으로 같은 경로를 탑니다.
워드프레스는 기본적으로 웹 서버에서 메일을 바로 보내기 때문에 인증이 되지 않습니다. 그래서 문의 폼 메일이 스팸함으로 가거나, Gmail에서 거부되거나, 흔적 없이 사라지는 일이 자주 생깁니다.
보내는 방법 선택
- SMTP 서버 — Gmail, Outlook.com, 네이버, 다음, Yahoo! JAPAN Mail, XServer, 사쿠라 인터넷, 시놀로지 NAS 등을 고르면 서버·포트·암호화가 자동으로 채워집니다. 관리자가 사는 나라의 서비스가 먼저 표시됩니다.
- 이메일 API 서비스 — SendGrid, Mailgun, Amazon SES, Postmark, Brevo, SMTP2GO. HTTPS만 열려 있으면 되므로 호스팅이 메일 포트를 막아도 동작합니다.
- Google 계정 / Microsoft 계정 — OAuth로 Gmail 또는 Microsoft 365 / Outlook.com을 통해 보냅니다(직접 만든 앱 사용). 화면에 단계별 안내가 있으며, 7일마다 연결이 끊기지 않도록 Google 앱을 게시하는 방법처럼 자주 막히는 부분도 안내합니다.
메일을 잃지 않도록
- 백업 서버 — 주 연결이 실패하면 같은 메일을 두 번째 SMTP 서버로 바로 다시 보냅니다.
- 자동 재시도 — 실패한 메일을 5분, 30분, 2시간, 6시간 뒤에 다시 보냅니다. 첨부 파일은 전달될 때까지 안전하게 보관됩니다.
- 백그라운드 발송(선택) — 메일 서버를 기다리지 않고 폼이 바로 응답합니다.
- 실패 알림 — 전달하지 못한 메일이 있으면 알려 드립니다(주 연결이 문제일 때는 백업 서버로 발송, 최대 1시간에 1통).
- 주간 리포트 — 전달·실패 건수와 흔한 실패 원인.
- 사이트 건강 — 도구 > 사이트 건강에 문제가 표시됩니다.
오류를 쉬운 말로
- 테스트 메일 — SOHO SMTP를 켜기 전에도 현재 설정으로 실제 메일을 보내 볼 수 있습니다.
- 실패하면 오류 코드 대신 원인과 해결 방법을 알려 줍니다. 예: “로그인 실패: Gmail은 앱 비밀번호가 필요합니다”. 서버와 주고받은 내용은 비밀번호와 메일 내용을 지운 채로 표시됩니다.
발송 기록
- 언제, 누구에게, 어떤 제목으로, 어떤 경로로 보냈는지와 결과를 기록하고, 실패 건은 서버와의 대화 전체를 보여 줍니다.
- 메일 본문과 첨부 파일은 저장하지 않습니다. 기록은 7일, 30일 또는 90일 뒤 삭제됩니다.
도메인 인증 점검
테스트는 성공했는데 나중에 반송되는 경우, 원인은 거의 항상 보내는 도메인입니다. 한 번의 클릭으로 SPF, DKIM, DMARC를 점검하고, 빠진 것이 있으면 복사해서 바로 쓸 수 있는 DNS 값을 만들어 줍니다. @gmail.com 같은 메일 서비스 주소를 다른 서버로 보내는 조합도 미리 알려 줍니다.
안전하고 간단하게
- 비밀번호, API 키, 계정 토큰은 암호화되어 저장됩니다. 암호화 키는 wp-config.php의 보안 키에서 만들어지며 데이터베이스에는 저장되지 않으므로, 데이터베이스 사본만으로는 알아낼 수 없습니다. 따로 설정할 것이 없습니다.
- 발신자 고정 — 다른 플러그인이 방문자 주소를 보낸 사람으로 넣어 수신 측에서 거부되는 일을 막고, 회신(reply-to) 주소는 그대로 유지합니다.
- 일본어 인코딩(선택) — 오래된 일본 휴대폰용 텍스트 메일을 ISO-2022-JP로 보냅니다.
- 다른 메일 플러그인에 남아 있는 설정을 한 번에 가져올 수 있습니다.

시작하기
- 플러그인 > 새로 추가 > 플러그인 업로드에서 zip을 올리고 활성화합니다(또는 워드프레스.org에서 설치).
- SOHO SMTP > 설정에서 발송 방법과 메일 서비스를 고르고 계정을 입력한 뒤 저장합니다.
- “테스트 메일” 탭에서 테스트를 보냅니다.
- 테스트가 성공하면 설정에서 “SOHO SMTP 사용”을 켭니다.
- 자신의 도메인으로 보낸다면 “도메인 점검”을 실행합니다.

SOHO SMTP は、WordPress から送信されるすべてのメール(お問い合わせフォーム、コメント通知、新規ユーザー登録、パスワード再設定、ショップの注文メールなど)を、あなたが選んだ認証済みの接続で送信します。他のプラグインが送るメールも自動的に同じ経路を通ります。
WordPress は標準ではウェブサーバーから直接メールを送るため、送信元の認証がされません。そのため、フォームのメールが迷惑メールに入ったり、Gmail に拒否されたり、気づかないうちに消えてしまうことがよくあります。
送信方法を選べます
- SMTP サーバー — Gmail、Outlook.com、Naver、Daum、Yahoo! JAPAN メール、XServer、さくらインターネット、Synology NAS などを選ぶだけで、サーバー・ポート・暗号化が自動入力されます。管理者の国のサービスが先に表示されます。
- メール API サービス — SendGrid、Mailgun、Amazon SES、Postmark、Brevo、SMTP2GO。HTTPS だけ使えればよいため、ホスティング側がメール用ポートを閉じていても動作します。
- Google アカウント / Microsoft アカウント — OAuth(ご自身で作成したアプリを使用)で Gmail または Microsoft 365 / Outlook.com 経由で送信します。画面に手順が表示され、7 日ごとに接続が切れないように Google アプリを公開する方法など、つまずきやすい点も案内します。
メールを失わないために
- バックアップサーバー — メイン接続に失敗したら、同じメールをすぐに 2 つ目の SMTP サーバーから送信します。
- 自動再送 — 失敗したメールを 5 分後、30 分後、2 時間後、6 時間後に再送します。添付ファイルは配信が完了するまで安全に保管されます。
- バックグラウンド送信(任意) — メールサーバーの応答を待たず、フォームがすぐに反応します。
- 失敗アラート — 配信できなかったメールがあるとお知らせします(メイン接続に問題がある場合はバックアップサーバー経由。1 時間に最大 1 通)。
- 週次レポート — 配信数・失敗数と、よくある失敗の理由。
- サイトヘルス — 問題は「ツール > サイトヘルス」に表示されます。
エラーをわかりやすい言葉で
- テストメール — SOHO SMTP を有効にする前でも、現在の設定で実際にメールを送って確認できます。
- 失敗したときは、エラーコードではなく原因と対処法を表示します。例:「ログインに失敗しました: Gmail ではアプリパスワードが必要です」。サーバーとのやり取りは、パスワードとメール本文を除いた状態で表示されます。
送信ログ
- いつ、誰に、どの件名で、どの経路で送ったかと結果を記録し、失敗した場合はサーバーとのやり取り全体を表示します。
- メール本文と添付ファイルは保存しません。ログは 7 日、30 日、または 90 日後に削除されます。
ドメイン認証チェック
テストは成功したのに後からバウンスが返ってくる場合、原因はほとんどが送信元ドメインです。ワンクリックで SPF、DKIM、DMARC を確認し、不足している場合はそのままコピーして使える DNS の値を作成します。@gmail.com などのメールサービスのアドレスを別のサーバーから送る組み合わせも事前にお知らせします。
安全でシンプル
- パスワード、API キー、アカウントトークンは暗号化して保存されます。暗号化キーは wp-config.php のセキュリティキーから生成され、データベースには保存されないため、データベースのコピーだけでは読み取れません。設定は不要です。
- 送信者の固定 — 他のプラグインが訪問者のアドレスを送信者にしてしまい、受信側に拒否されることを防ぎます。返信先(reply-to)はそのまま保持されます。
- 日本語エンコード(任意) — 古い日本の携帯電話向けに、テキストメールを ISO-2022-JP で送信します。
- 他のメールプラグインに残っている設定を、ワンクリックで取り込めます。
- 他のプラグインもメールの送信方法を変更している場合は警告します。
はじめかた
- 「プラグイン > 新規追加 > プラグインのアップロード」で zip をアップロードして有効化します(または WordPress.org からインストール)。
- 「SOHO SMTP > 設定」で送信方法とメールサービスを選び、アカウントを入力して保存します。
- 「テストメール」タブでテストを送信します。
- テストが成功したら、設定で「SOHO SMTP を使用」をオンにします。
- ご自身のドメインから送信する場合は、「ドメインチェック」を実行します。

External services
SOHO SMTP does not send any data to the plugin author. It connects to outside services only to deliver your email,
and only to the service you choose in the settings:
- Your SMTP server (the server you enter, e.g. your mail provider or your own NAS) — the email is sent to it when
your site sends an email or you click “Send test email”. - SendGrid (api.sendgrid.com) — only when chosen. The email (sender, recipients, subject, content, attachments)

The domain check only uses your server’s own DNS lookups (dns_get_record) to read public SPF, DKIM and DMARC records.
No outside API is called.
Privacy
SOHO SMTP does not collect data for the plugin author. On your own site it stores, in the sending log, the date, recipient address, subject, route and result of each email (not the message body or attachments), and deletes entries after 7, 30 or 90 days as you choose. Emails waiting for a retry keep their attachments in a protected folder in the uploads directory until delivery. Passwords, API keys and tokens are stored encrypted. A suggested privacy policy text is added under Settings > Privacy.

luxmail_pre_dns_txt— supply TXT lookup results for the domain check (internal DNS, tests). - Delivery happens when wp_mail() calls send() on the mailer, after every other plugin has built the message,
so the message is sent exactly as WordPress and your plugins created it.
